So at home jobs seem to be all the rage these days. At least that is what it feels like given the number of emails I get. Yes I know most of these are scams, but these scams wouldn’t work if people didn’t want to work at home would they? I mean there has to be an actual client base to scam. I had plenty of friends in college who said they were going to drop out and sit at home stuffing envelopes. The thing is they could have had they wanted to. I am pretty sure there actually are jobs that will send you materials and pay you to sit at home and stuff envelopes.
There are other bogus jobs like this, such as filling out online surveys. I seem to remember hearing something about someone who made all their extra money in college just filling out online surveys and getting paid for it. This is even more amusing than the stuffing envelopes thing. However there are some legitimate at home freelance jobs. For example data entry from home is a completely accepted freelance position and can be done full time. People actually refer to it as a telecommuting position. I am guessing this has something to do with “commuting” over the phone lines.
However data entry from home requires a little more brainpower and drive than stuffing envelopes. For most positions you are going to need a resume and preferably some experience. However I am sure you will probably make a lot more money as well. The benefit of these at home jobs is that you never have to leave your house. You can get paid to work in your pajamas with the TV on. If you do your work and don’t blow off what is a pretty plush deal you probably also have very limited interactions with an actual supervisor or coworkers. I don’t know about you but it sounds perfect to me.
